MORADABAD, UP ( REPORTLINE ) — Shahideen Qureshi, a 37-year-old resident of Asalatpura, died Monday night following an alleged assault by a group of men in Majhola area of Moradabad district.
According to a police complaint filed by the victim's brother Shahjad, Qureshi was attacked by individuals who accused him of cow slaughter. Police have registered a case regarding the incident, though no arrests have been made at the time of reporting.
Authorities say Qureshi was found unconscious at the scene and was immediately transported to a nearby hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries. His body has since been returned to his family.
Qureshi, who was known locally as a bodybuilder and fitness enthusiast who had participated in several competitions, is survived by his wife Rizwana and three sons — Aaram (13), Aashi (11), and Ibjaan (9).
The incident has caused tension in the area, prompting local authorities to increase security measures. Video footage allegedly showing the attack has circulated on social media platforms.
Local law enforcement officials say an investigation is ongoing. Police have urged residents to maintain peace and allow the legal process to take its course.
