Jalgaon - In a disturbing incident, a mob targeted a police station in Jalgaon, Maharashtra, following the rape and murder of a six-year-old girl in Jamner. The accused, 35-year-old Subhash Imaji Bhil, had been on the run until his arrest on Thursday.

Violent Confrontation

The situation escalated when the police arrested Bhil and brought him to the Jamner Police Station. A restive crowd gathered outside, demanding that the accused be handed over to them. By 10 p.m., the crowd turned violent, pelting stones and setting a two-wheeler on fire. Disturbing videos showed injured policemen, one with a blood-stained uniform and a bloody handkerchief wrapped around his head.

Police Response

Despite the difficulty, the police managed to disperse the mob. Fifteen people were detained for stone-pelting, and authorities urged the public not to take the law into their own hands. District Superintendent of Police Maheshwar Reddy assured that the accused would face the harshest punishment.

Bhil's Hideout

Subhash Imaji Bhil had been hiding in Bhusawal, a small town approximately 30 km away from Jamner. Local cops swiftly arrested him upon receiving information about his hideout. Fortunately, there was no violence during his initial arrest.
