Ahmednagar, June 18 - A tragic incident occurred on Saturday in Takli Kadewalit village of Shrigonda taluka, Ahmednagar district, when a gelatin sticks blast claimed the lives of three workers engaged in well-digging work. The deceased have been identified as Nagnath Bhalchandra Gavade (25) from Karjat, Ganesh Namdev Walunj (25), and Suraj alias Nasir Inamdar (25), both residents of Takli Kadewalit village.

According to police reports, the workers were drilling a hole using a blasting tractor machine and placing gelatin sticks inside when the explosion occurred around 5 pm. The impact was so severe that Gavade, Walunj, and Inamdar lost their lives on the spot.

Three other workers, Waman Ransingh, Ravindra Khamkar, and Jabbar Inamdar, all from Takli Kadewalit village, sustained injuries in the incident and were rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the private contractor overseeing the well-digging work failed to provide proper safety equipment and precautions to the workers, leading to this tragic incident. An FIR has been registered at the Shrigonda police station, and the contractor, Sanjay Ithape, has been arrested on charges of negligence.
