New Dehli: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched a scathing attack on the Congress party, accusing it of dividing society along caste lines and uniting its vote bank through appeasement politics. In an interview with TV9 Bharatvarsh, PM Modi alleged that Rahul Gandhi has struck a deal in Kerala's Wayanad constituency to give Muslims reservations if voted as an MP.

"The media should ask a question. Has a deal been struck in Wayanad, promising Muslims to give reservations in favor of making Rahul Gandhi win the seat of Wayanad?" the Prime Minister questioned.

He also hit out at the Congress over allegations that the BJP would alter the Constitution if re-elected, stating it is the grand old party that has used the Constitution for acquiring power and vote bank politics.

"Congress is spreading lies claiming that the BJP will change the Constitution of India. If you look at the history of Congress, you'd see they don't believe in the sanctity of the Constitution," PM Modi said.

Comparing the 2014 and 2019 election campaigns, the Prime Minister said earlier the BJP-led NDA fought against a ruling coalition with access to government resources. However, people relied on his development model then, which has now turned into trust based on his performance over the last term.

PM Modi further dubbed the Congress manifesto as that of the Muslim League, accusing the party of having a "hidden agenda" to divide society along caste lines and unite its vote bank through appeasement by taking away SC/ST/OBC reservations to give benefits to Muslims.

On West Bengal, the Prime Minister said if the country has to develop, the state can take it ahead, but alleged the TMC and Communists have damaged its culture. He accused the TMC government of not listening to women's grievances, which is why the BJP has fielded common women candidates like Rekha Patra.

The Prime Minister's comments come as 10 states and 2 Union Territories with 94 constituencies go to polls on May 7 in the third phase of the Lok Sabha elections 2024.
