Bangluru: The Sadashivanagar police in Karnataka have taken a significant step by booking senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012 (POCSO). This move comes in response to a complaint filed by the mother of a 17-year-old girl, alleging sexual assault by Yediyurappa.
According to police sources, the alleged incident occurred on February 2 when the woman and her daughter sought Yediyurappa's help regarding a cheating case. However, instead of assistance, the situation turned into a harrowing experience for them.
The case has been registered under Section 8 of the POCSO Act and Section 354 A of the Indian Penal Code. This development has sent shockwaves across the political landscape, given Yediyurappa's prominent position within the BJP and his stature in Karnataka politics.
Yediyurappa, 81, has not issued any public statement regarding the allegations as of yet. However, this incident has sparked widespread outrage and calls for swift and fair investigation and justice.
The legal process is expected to unfold in the coming days as authorities delve deeper into the matter. The case underscores the importance of ensuring the safety and protection of individuals, especially minors, against any form of abuse or exploitation.
As the investigation progresses, all eyes remain on the outcome, which could have far-reaching implications not only for the individuals involved but also for the political landscape in Karnataka.
