Three nabbed, two pistols and ammunition seized in major operation

AKOLA, Maharashtra: The Akola Police have unearthed a potential link between a local arms ring and notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, with the arrest of three individuals and the seizure of two pistols and nine live cartridges.

Tip leads to arrests, arms recovery: Acting on a tip-off, police apprehended Praful Vinayak Chauhan (25) and Ajay Tularam Tethe (27) on January 16th near the Akola Naka Bridge. A subsequent search revealed an empty magazine in their possession. Further investigation, aided by the Special Task Force, led to the recovery of two pistols and ammunition from a nearby well.

Third suspect linked to Bishnoi: The investigation took a surprising turn when the involvement of a third suspect, Shubham Rameshwar Lonkar (25) from Pune, came to light. Lonkar was arrested on January 29th from Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh. Examination of his call records and data revealed alleged connections with both Lawrence Bishnoi and his brother Anmol Bishnoi through WhatsApp video calls and international audio calls.

Police probe deepens: "We are working to ascertain the motive behind the suspects' connection to Bishnoi and trace the source of the firearms," stated Akola Superintendent of Police Bachan Singh. He further added, "A case under the Arms Act has been registered, and further investigation will reveal the suspects' intentions and any potential activity of the Bishnoi gang in Akola district."

This development raises concerns about the possible expansion of organized crime networks in the region. The Akola Police are determined to unravel the full extent of this connection and ensure the safety and security of the community.
