New Dehli: In the midst of a heated dispute over remarks regarding Sanatan Dharma, more than 260 prominent individuals have penned a letter to Chief Justice Divya Chandrahood, urging action on the statements made by Udayanidhi Stalin. In the letter, they emphasize the necessity of taking action in this matter to protect the character of India as a secular nation.
According to the news agency PTI, this group comprises not only renowned figures but also includes personalities like Justice S.N. Dhingra from the Delhi High Court. The signatories consist of 14 retired judges, 130 former bureaucrats, and 118 retired military personnel. The letter highlights that Udayanidhi Stalin not only delivered an inflammatory speech but also refused to apologize for his statements.
Furthermore, the letter expresses concern that any delay in action by the administration would be an affront to the court's authority. It also notes the state government's reluctance to take any action in this matter, which is seen as a mockery of the rule of law.
