Akola, August 12, 2023: (Tamsil Shahezad Khan) The Akola Local Crime Branch has apprehended a gang of motorcycle thieves involved in large-scale motorcycle theft. The accused have been identified as Meheraj Shah (32 years) from Varnagav, Jalgaon district, and Trilok Sopinath Khandere (22 years) from Bhimanagar, Buldhana. They were arrested with the recovery of approximately 41 stolen motorcycles valued at around ₹25,00,000/-. They have been booked under Section 379 of the Indian Penal Code, registered as Crime No. 309/2023 at the Ramdas Peth Police Station in Akola.


Recent incidents of motorcycle theft have seen an increase in the Akola district, prompting the Police Superintendent Sandeep Ghuge and other senior officials to guide strategic measures and coordinate efforts. Under their guidance, Police Inspectors Kailas Bhagat, Mukund Deshmukh, Gopal Jadhav, and other officers from the Akola Local Crime Branch successfully apprehended the accused and recovered the stolen motorcycles.

Further investigation revealed that the accused were involved in motorcycle thefts across various cities, including Buldhana, Balapur, and Jalgaon. They had stolen a total of 28 motorcycles from these areas, which have also been seized by the police. Both suspects have been presented before the court, and investigations are ongoing to determine their involvement in other criminal activities.


This successful operation was a joint effort by Police Superintendent Sandeep Ghuge, Additional Police Superintendent Abhay Dongre, and Nitin Shankar Shelke, along with Police Inspectors Firoz Khan, Dashrath Borakar, Swapnil Chaudhari, Khushal Nemade, Dheeraj Wanakhar, Gokul Chavhan Khandare, Ansar Sheikh, Swapnil Khedkar, Umesh Paraye, Akash Mankar, Abhishek Pathak, Datta Dhore, Vishal More, Avinash Pachpor, Abdul Majid, Ejaz Ahmad, Ravi Khandare, Aamir, Amol Deepake, Santosh Dabhade, Mahendra Maliye, Driver No. PO. Kamalakar, Prakash Lokhande from the Akola Local Crime Branch, and other officers. The successful collaboration highlights the vigilance and commendable efforts of the Akola Local Crime Branch.
