New Dehli: In a heart-wrenching incident that occurred on July 25 in Assam's Morigaon district, a mob of Hindu residents from Ahotguri village attacked a group of Muslim youths, leaving one dead and two seriously injured. The victims, including Saddam Hussain from Borbari Ahotpam village, were returning from a kabaddi match in Naramari village when they were accused of stealing cows by the angry mob.
Among the victims were sports enthusiasts, including Anarul Hoque, fondly known as Messi for his football skills, and his brother Mirajul Hoque, who sustained severe injuries during the attack. Despite the Muslim men's pleas that they were innocent and merely returning home after the match, the mob showed no mercy and continued the assault.
Anarul managed to escape along with two others, but three of his friends, including Saddam, were tragically caught by the furious villagers. Even in the presence of the police, the mob unleashed further violence on the helpless victims. The shocking videos circulating on social media capture the horror and brutality of the incident.
Saddam's elder brother, Samsuddin, and Mainul Hoque, another elder brother, rushed to the scene to save their loved ones but were also attacked by the mob. The tragic incident has left Saddam's two young children orphaned and has devastated their family and community.
The police have mentioned that three cows were stolen from Ahotguri village, which infuriated the residents and led to the mob violence. However, the survivors deny any involvement in the alleged theft and believe they were targeted solely based on their religious identity.
This senseless act of violence has left a deep scar on the community and calls for urgent attention to address communal tensions and promote harmony among different religious groups. The loss of a young life and the suffering of innocent individuals remind us of the importance of fostering understanding and compassion in society.
